• Dear Parents,

The Falconer Central School District is excited to announce the launch of a new service that will enhance communication by allowing us to deliver important information to you via SMS text messaging, email and voice calls.

The service is provided by SchoolMessenger.  Information can be found at www.SchoolMessenger.com.  This system will replace the former PowerAnnouncement.

The District will only use the service to provide information that is timely and relevant.

In order to participate in the new text messaging service, you must indicate your willingness to receive text messages to your phone.  The process is simple and only takes a few seconds to complete.

Simply text any one of the following words to the number 68453subscribe, optin, yes

You will know you were successful if you receive the following reply message:

You’re registered 4 SchoolMessenger notifications.   Reply STOP to cancel, HELP for help.  Msg&data rates may apply. Msg freq varies.  Schoolmessenger.com/tm

You will want to repeat the opt-in process for any wireless numbers that you wish to include.

In addition to performing the opt-in process above, you will want to insure that the school district has your correct cell phone number(s) in your students’ records.

The district will be officially launching this new service in approximately 2 weeks.

Please note, although the school district does not charge you for this service, it is not responsible for any text message charges that may be incurred by you for sending or receiving text messages.  Check with your wireless carrier for possible charges.

In addition to text messages, voice messages may be left on your home phone or cell phone.  You may opt out of this service by listening to the voice message and following the prompt to opt out.

Email messages will be sent if the school has your updated email address.

Emergency messages will be sent to all student contact numbers.

Attendance alerts and low lunch balance alerts will also be sent via the SchoolMessenger system.  If you wish to opt out of the lunch balance alert, please contact your building secretary.  You may not opt out of the Attendance alerts.  If you call your student in to the nurse’s office for an absence, you should not receive the attendance alert.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact your child’s school principal.
