• Falconer Central School’s Concussion Management Protocol

The Falconer Central School Board of Education recognizes that concussions and head injuries are the most commonly reported injuries in children and adolescents who participate in sports and recreational activities. The physical and mental well-being of our students is a primary concern.

All students at Falconer Middle/High School will be evaluated using a computer program to establish a baseline for comparison in case a student is suspected to have sustained a traumatic brain injury.

If it is suspected that a student has sustained a traumatic brain injury, the student will immediately be removed from play and will be advised to seek medical attention if necessary. If the student is examined by a medical doctor on the day of sustained injury, a second evaluation will be necessary to determine medical clearance where the student is symptom-free for at least 24 hours. Pre-dated medical clearance will not be accepted.

The student may see a medical doctor when they are 24 hours without any symptoms to obtain medical clearance.
