STEM WARS 2020
Fenner Elementary was invited to participate in a STEM WARS at Southwestern Central School on February 6, 2020. The students competed in a Robotics challenge, Marble Run Challenge, T-Shirt Design Challenge, & and Science Poster Challenge.
During the Wonder Robotics Challenge the students used block programming in the app Blockly to code the Dash robot through a maze. Our team of Conner B., Ava C., Lex L., & Maddie W. earned 1st place in this challenge for coding the fastest with the least number of codes.
The Marble Run Design consisted of Anthony E., Kennedy L., Morgan R., & Isaiah W. They were given various materials to complete a run that was 6” high and 20 inches long. Our team won 3rd place in this challenge.
The Science Poster Contest required the students to explain “Solutions to Chautauqua Lake's Algae Bloom Problem,” including information on causes of the algae blooms and how their solution will help. Our team of Kaylee G., Dylan N., & Aydin W. earned 3rd place for their hard work & design.
Finally, our T-Shirt Design team earned 3rd place for their awesome shirts. This team consisted of Caleb B., Gavin C., & Alyaina W.
Mrs. Barron and Mrs. Sigular are very proud of the hard work and determination this team put forth in such a short amount of time. Congratulations!
