• COVID-19 Notification December 15, 2020

Falconer Central School was notified today by the Chautauqua County Department of Health that a staff member tested positive for COVID-19 at Fenner Elementary.  The District has worked closely with the CCDOH and we’ve determined that no students or staff have been exposed.

After careful consideration, the Chautauqua County Health Department has decided to update their guidance for quarantine for proximate/classroom contacts in school settings.  This update removes the “60-minute” guidance that was previously used to determine close contacts. Similar to the rationale behind the Erie County DOH’s decision, this is based on their case investigations within schools, which have shown that student-to-student transmission has been very rare.  Please understand that we will continue to evaluate this and make changes accordingly in the best interest of public health.  Close contact is defined as less than 6 ft. for 10 minutes or more, regardless of mask use, or direct physical contact.

Please note that transmission of COVID-19 has been seen more commonly linked to family members and staff members to staff members in close contact.  As such, please remember the importance of adhering to the COVID-19 precautionary measures both inside and outside of work settings.  These measures truly will help to keep everyone healthy and our schools open for essential in-person learning.

We appreciate the continued help from the Falconer community in trying to keep our schools safe and open for instruction.  We firmly believe that keeping our kids in school is safe and the best for their academic growth.

    Stay Falcon Strong!
