Hello! My name is Lorraine Adams. I will be your child’s first grade teacher. I hope you are having a wonderful, relaxing summer. I cannot wait to meet my new students and their families. It will be a great year, full of fun and learning.
You should have received a letter from me on your child's last day of school in June. The letter tells you a little bit about me and also includes information about this coming school year.
During the beginning of First Grade, we will be learning many things, such as our new schedule and routine, new classroom rules, appropriate behavior, and all about our new friends.
On the other side of my letter you received in June, you will find a First Grade Supply List. Please bring your child's school supplies to Open House. Also included in the letter was a note with important information, and our schedule. Please go over all the information carefully. Remember to look in your child’s backpack daily. I will be sending home a lot of important information, especially the first week of school. Any notes/papers will be in your child’s folder. If they need to be returned or filled out, please do so and return them in your child’s folder ASAP. This folder needs to be checked, and returned to your child’s backpack nightly. I will use it as a way of communicating with you. Please place any notes to me, bus change information, lunch/breakfast money, etc. in the folder.
Please note that beginning on the first day of school, each child will be responsible for bringing his/her own small, daily snack. The children will keep it in their locker until snack time. Please try to make the snack healthy. No beverages please. Some ideas: Fruit, cheese, yogurt, granola bars, pretzels, crackers, and pudding. Please make your child aware that it is for snack time, and not for breakfast or lunch.
Well, I guess that is enough information for now. If you have any questions, please call me at school or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. I look forward to working with you and your child! Enjoy your summer!
