    Housing & Environment

    Would you like to learn about design? This course teaches students how to choose a place to live and how to decorate both inside and out by completing a variety of class projects including making your own quilt. Various careers will be explored. This course may be used to satisfy the Art/Music requirement.
     
    Clothing & Textiles 
    Credit:  .5   Unit of High School       Length:  20 Weeks
    Do you like Clothes? Would you like to learn to sew your own clothes? In this course you will learn how to use color and clothing styles to enhance your own personal appearance, and to redesign or repair ready made garments to better fit your style.  You will also learn fabric, pattern selection, and clothing construction while making your own clothes and accessories. Enjoy learning about your own style and making something you have always wanted to make. This is a semester course that may be used to satisfy the Art/Music requirement.
     
    Community & Technology
    Credit:  .25   Unit High School          Length:  40 Weeks
    This course is for the education and intervention of harassment, bullying and discrimination in accordance with section 14 of the Education Law. Such study shall include six clock hours, of which at least three hours must be conducted through face- to-face instruction, of course work or training on the social patterns of harassment, bullying and discrimination, as defined in section 11 of the Education Law, including but not limited to those acts based on a person’s actual or perceived race, color, weight, national origin, ethnic group, religion, religious practice, disability, sexual orientation, gender or sex; the identification and mitigation of harassment, bullying and discrimination; and strategies for effectively addressing problems of exclusion, bias and aggression in educational settings.
     
    Foods & Nutrition 
    Credit:  .5  Unit High School              Length:  20 Weeks
    This is a fun elective for students who enjoy cooking or are interested in a career in the culinary field.  Students learn food preparation skills,time management and teamwork by participating in food labs.  Students will also gain an understanding of nutrition and see how good nutrition related to their own health and fitness. 
     
    Advanced Foods & Nutrition 
    Credit:  .5  Unit High School                Length:  20 Weeks
    (Not available for the 2017-2018 school year)
    Students continue to develop their skills in food preparation.  Foods such as appetizers, breads, meats, soups and deserts will be prepared.  The importance of food presentation will be emphasized throughout the course. Cake decorating and preparing foods from different cultures are also parts of this fun course.
